As part of Multicultural Month activities, Football Queensland (FQ) and Brisbane Roar FC assisted with the Queensland Program of Assistance for Survivors of Trauma and Torture (QPASTT)’s Super Saturday multicultural youth event over the weekend.
Funded by the Queensland Mental Health Commission and supported by Welcome to Australia and Brisbane City Council, over 150 people attended the Super Saturday event held at the Spanish Centre in Acacia Ridge which featured a youth seven-a-side football tournament.
10 community teams participated in the tournament won by Eritrea Youth, with Somali Youth runners up, and four young developing referees gained valuable experience officiating the tournament.
Brisbane Roar players Jamie Young and Henrique were also on hand for a Q&A session with the football players and youth in attendance, with Henrique sharing a powerful story of his personal journey.
