Football will be represented in four categories at the 2018 Queensland Sports Awards, which will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Wednesday, 28 November.
Mel Andreatta, Tristram Peters, Jarred Gillett and Brisbane Roar’s Westfield W-League team have all been named finalists for awards at this year’s ceremony for their achievements between 1 October 2017 and 30 September 2018.
Brisbane Roar’s Mel Andreatta has been recognised in the Sport Coach of the Year category after she was named Westfield W-League Coach of the Year, while her Brisbane Roar team is nominated for Queensland Sport Team of the Year after claiming a record-equalling third Westfield W-League Premiership.
Queensland powerchair footballer Tristram Peters is nominated for the Athlete with a Disability award after he captained the Queensland Cyclones to a Grand Final win at the 2018 National Powerchair Football Championships.
Rounding out the nominations is Jarred Gillett, who became the most successful referee in Hyundai A-League history in May 2018 after taking charge of a record fifth Hyundai A-League Grand Final. He is in the running for Sport Officiator of the Year.
