Football Queensland (FQ) is pleased to announce the release of the 2019 National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland, National Premier Leagues Women’s (NPLW) Queensland and Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL) competition draws.
The draw comes after extensive consultation with clubs and stakeholders.
As announced yesterday, the first round of the 2019 NPL competition will feature the inaugural Football Foundation Cup match between reigning NPL Queensland Premiers Lions FC and newly-promoted Premiers of 2018’s FQPL season, Peninsula Power.
The annual clash, to be contested by the reigning NPL Queensland Premiers and the Premiers of the previous season’s FQPL competition, will take place on Saturday, 2 February at Lions Stadium.
FQ Chief Executive Officer Richard Griffiths said the Football Foundation Cup match would provide a strong start to the NPL Queensland season each year.
“The Football Foundation Cup is set to become an important annual event on the Queensland football calendar,” Griffiths said.
“We encourage football fans to get out and witness an exciting opener to the 2019 NPL season with the inaugural Football Foundation Shield match between Lions FC and Peninsula Power.”
