International Football Coaching Conference Australia (IFCCA) has announced the Aspire Academy’s Jonatan Cabanelas as the conference’s fifth keynote speaker.

Cabanelas joins a host of high-profile football professionals, including Grant Downie OBE, Thomas Federspiel, Hope Powell CBE OBE and Maria Ruiz de Oña, bringing coaching knowledge and football experience to RACV Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast  on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May.

Working with organisations including Athletic Club de Bilbao (Spain) and Club Universidad de Chile (Chile), Cabanelas is currently utilising his professional experience to mould young footballers into professional athletes of the future through Qatar’s Aspire Academy.

“My work is based on educating football managers and the organisation in its various departments in the development of the vision and the formation of what it means to be a football player,” said Cabanelas.

With Qatar recently crowned 2019 AFC Asian Cup champions sporting seven Aspire Academy graduates, Aspire Academy Training Coordinator and Director Assistant Cabanelas focuses on key elements of development to allow young footballers to reach their full potential.

“We aim to create a culture of football that is recognized by people as the Aspire way of the interpreting and playing football,” said Cabanelas.

“Development and the talent of the footballer as an individual project requires work in player education and the organisation.

“We seek to generate autonomy and responsibility through a participatory process of the players, learning through the difficulties to lead our players to be better every day.”

With the event focused on exposing coaches to the world’s best football education practices, IFCCA is excited to welcome Calabenas and his cutting-edge approach to the development of young athletes.

Along with his keynote presentation on player development, Calabenas will also conduct a  practical demonstration with coaching drills focusing on both individual and team performance.
