Focused on the continued development of the standards of coaching from grassroots football through to elite, National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland club Lions FC have locked in their place at the inaugural International Football Coaching Conference Australia (IFCCA) at RACV Royal Pines Resort, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May.
General Manager Rob Scanlon said Lions FC secured tickets for a large group of their coaches as part of the club’s continual commitment to coach education at all levels.
Keynote speakers already confirmed for IFCCA include City Group consultant Grant Downie OBE, player recruitment expert Thomas Federspiel, former England Women Head Coach Hope Powell CBE OBE and Maria Ruiz de Oña of Qatar’s famed Aspire Academy, providing ample opportunities for local Australian coaches to learn from global football experts.
Industry panelists include Football Federation Australia (FFA) Head of Community, Football Development and Women’s Football Emma Highwood, Junior Matildas Head Coach Rae Dower, Australian Indigenous Football Championship Director Ramone Close, former Socceroo Jade North and current Brisbane Roar player Allira Toby.
“From a club perspective, we see IFCCA as an opportunity to further educate our current coaches, but also see it as a pathway to the future, as an investment to help our club grow,” Scanlon said.
IFCCA delegates will also receive official Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points for attending the two-day conference as well as opportunities to network with fellow football coaches, conference speakers and panellists.
“On the other hand, whilst we may be coming off the back of an NPL premiership, we want to be at the forefront and stay on top of our coaching standards, furthering our knowledge base from not only members of the Australian football community, but from international football professionals,” Scanlon said.
