The Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL) kicks off this weekend, with Logan Lightning hosting Capalaba FC in the first FQPL Match of the Round.
The weekend will also feature two other great matches, with SWQ Thunder hosting Magpies Crusaders United in the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland and Souths United and The Gap going head to head in the National Premier Leagues Women’s (NPLW).
Each Match of the Round can be viewed on the FQ website, FQ Facebook page and the FQ YouTube channel, live and on demand.
NPL QUEENSLAND
SWQ Thunder host Magpies Crusaders United in Round 5 of the NPL Queensland.
Season so far:
SWQ Thunder haven’t had the start to the season they would have been hoping for, suffering three losses and a draw in their first four games of the season.
They will come into Saturday’s match full of determination to get their first win of the season and claim some much-needed points.
The Magpies have also had a mixed start to season, recording a draw in Round 1 before missing their next two games due to weather and a bye.
They will bring some confidence to this game though, after defeating Western Pride 3-1 in Round 4 of the NPL Queensland.
Last time they met:
The two teams had to settle for a point each last time they met in Round 20 last year, a match that resulted in a 1-1 draw.
If that match was anything to go by, this weekend’s Match of the Round could go down to the wire.

It’s a top of the table battle in this week’s NPLW Match of the Round between Souths United and The Gap.
Both teams head into Round 3 with two wins from two in their opening matches, so with a potential first loss on the cards for one it’s set to be an interesting game.
Season so far:
Souths have had a perfect start to their season and are yet to concede a goal after two huge wins, defeating Western Pride 9-0 in Round 1 and SWQ Thunder 11-0 last weekend.
Watch the highlights of their Round 2 win below.
The Gap have had their own strong start to the season with a Round 1 win against Logan Lightning, and an impressive 5-0 victory against Mitchelton last weekend.

Last time they met:
These two teams last faced each other in Round 18 of last year, with The Gap coming out on top and recording a 3-0 victory.
A brace from key player Tiarne Petterwood helped them to victory, but The Gap will be in search of someone else to step up for this game after Petterwood made the switch to Logan Lightning for the 2019 season.
