International Football Coaching Conference Australia (IFCCA) has today announced Melbourne Victory General Manager, Technical and Coaching and incoming Football Federation Australia (FFA) Technical Director Rob Sherman as a keynote speaker and panellist at the upcoming conference.
Sherman joins other high-profile development and technical specialists including Graham Arnold and Kelly Cross in attendance at the event at RACV Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May 2019.
The experienced technical director has worked for over 20 years as a Coach Educator and Developer and written, developed and delivered courses from the grassroots to Pro Diploma in UEFA, AFC and OFC.
A former Head of Coach Education at the FFA, Sherman has influenced and worked with the majority of the current Hyundai A-League coaches.
Encompassing over 40 years as both a professional player and coach, including a role as Head of Player Development at the Football Association of Wales, Sherman has worked in a range of team environments at all levels from grassroots to professional.
The technical director said he was looking forward to sharing his knowledge with conference delegates and learning from others at the event.
“I am looking forward to taking part in the IFCCA conference and sharing my experiences and learning from others,” Sherman said.
“A fundamental of your ongoing development as a coach is to listen to other concepts and consider their worth, challenge your own thinking, and whether to adapt and add these to the way you work.
“The opportunity to have a group of experts share their knowledge is simply too good to miss.”
Sherman also boasts experience on the international stage as Assistant Coach for the Canadian Men’s Team at the 2019 Nations Cup, and worked with the New Zealand and Canada national teams at various World Cups and Olympic Games.
As National Coach of the Wales men’s U16 team for eight years, Sherman worked with many of the current national team players including Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey, Joe Allen and Joe Ledley in a period that is recognised as the foundation of Wales’ recent European Championship success.
Sherman will also feature on the panel ‘Australian Football Academies’ at IFCCA, sharing his experiences from Melbourne Victory’s Academy.
With the event focused on delivering cutting-edge insight, research and approaches used by the world’s leading clubs and associations, IFCCA is excited to welcome Sherman as a keynote speaker and panellist.
