The second Football Queensland (FQ) Quad Series event will be held in Brisbane between Saturday, 4 May and Monday, 6 May at Logan Football Complex and Meakin Park, Slacks Creek.
Talent Support Program (TSP) teams from across the state will meet National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland club South West Queensland Thunder and Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL) Wide Bay Buccaneers junior teams in an extension of the FQ Quad Series.
Boys and girls aged between 13 and 16 from TSP teams from Far North Queensland (FNQ), North Queensland (NQ), Central Queensland (CQ) and Magpies Crusaders FC will travel to Brisbane for the event.
The FQ Quad Series will be held across two locations in Brisbane, with the boys teams competing at Logan Football Complex and the girls playing at Meakin Park, Slacks Creek.
FNQ TSP Head Coach Zenon Caravella said the FQ Quad Series provides a great opportunity for all players who participate.
“When you can bring those types of players together like that, it’s beneficial for them all,” Caravella said.
“They get to play tough games, and this is really how they can improve.”
The FQ Quad Series will also form part of the Country State Team selection process, providing a pathway for young players from across Queensland to advance their football.
Under 13 and Under 15 girls from around the state will join together with the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) Academy program to compete for state team selection.
Under 13 and Under 14 boys will also play for the opportunity to be selected for Queensland, while the Under 15 and Under 16 players’ matches will be viewed by current Joeys team Head Coach Trevor Morgan for talent identification purposes.
Providing a pathway for young players to state team selection, FQ State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer says the FQ Quad Series is a great way to invest in regional football.
“The Queensland Quad Series is Football Queensland’s investment into the regional elite pathway,” Ganczer said.
“We would like to provide the opportunity for female and male players across the whole state to reach the state team and beyond, and one day hopefully play for the Socceroos or the Matildas.”
FQ Quad Series events will also be held in Cairns and Townsville later this year.
