The International Football Coaching Conference Australia (IFCCA) has today announced former Brisbane Roar Head Coach Darren Davies as a panellist for this year’s conference.
Davies will join Sydney FC Technical Director Kelly Cross, Incoming FFA Technical Director Rob Sherman and Brisbane Roar Academy Head Coach Jose Barcala on the ‘Australia Professional Academies’ panel, to be held at the event at the RACV Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May 2019.
Building over 10 years of experience as a professional player in England, Scotland and Wales, Davies relocated to Australia after hanging up his boots.
Davies began his coaching career with a brief stint as Head Coach at the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) before taking up the mantle of Head Coach for the Melbourne Victory Youth team. In 2013, he led his team to victory in the National Youth League Championship and was also promoted to Assistant Coach of the senior team.
After spending six years in Melbourne, Davies moved to Brisbane to take on the role of Assistant Coach for Brisbane Roar FC, later stepping into the role of Interim Head Coach in late 2018 for the end of the 2018/2019 Hyundai A-League season.
In addition to his coaching roles in the Hyundai A-League, Davies also boasts a wealth of experience in coaching at the national level. In 2015, he became Assistant Coach for the Young Socceroos while in 2017, he served as a member of Australia’s coaching staff for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
Throughout his career, Davies has gained valuable insight into developing some of Australia’s best footballers and will share this knowledge at IFCCA.
“I look forward to sharing but also absorbing as much information and knowledge as possible to continue to learn, evolve and get better at what I do,” Davies said.
IFCCA will bring together experienced football professionals from around the world to share knowledge with coaches of all levels, from grassroots and community coaches to those in the National Premier Leagues and at professional clubs.
