Round 18 of the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland will once again provide a host of mid-week games that can be viewed on the FQ YouTube channel from 7:30pm tonight.
The NPL Match of the Round, which can also be viewed on the FQ website and FQ Facebook, will see Gold Coast United FC hosting an in-form Eastern Suburbs FC who continue to climb their way up the ladder.
Having won four of their last five games, Easts have landed just outside of the top four after 17 rounds and will look to continue this winning streak as they travel South for tonight’s clash.
Gold Coast United, on the other hand, have lost their last three games, not recording a win since their Round 13 match against Sunshine Coast FC.
The hosts will need to rediscover their winning form if they want to remain in the running for finals football come season’s end.
Last time the two teams met, Gold Coast United came out on top with a 1-0 win in Round 3 of the 2019 season.
Match Details:
Gold Coast United v Eastern Suburbs
Wednesday, 29 May, 7:30pm
Coplick Family Sports Park
Brisbane City v Peninsula Power
Having won their last four games, Brisbane City will bring some confidence into their match against current ladder leaders Peninsula Power. The visitors on the other hand were dealt their first loss of the season last week at the hands of Lions FC, and will be hoping to get their winning streak back up and running, starting with tonight’s Round 18 clash.
Brisbane Roar Youth v Redlands United
After a rough patch leading into the halfway mark of the season, Brisbane Roar Youth have recorded wins in their last two matches and will host Redlands United for Round 18 of the NPL Queensland. Redlands meanwhile haven’t secured a victory in their last four outings and will go searching for any points they can to move further from the relegation zone.
Moreton Bay United v Lions FC
Fresh off the back of putting an end to Peninsula Power’s incredible winning streak, Lions are in strong form heading into this clash, unbeaten since Round 9. Moving to only two points behind the ladder leaders, every point will be valuable for Lions if they are to claim back-to-back premierships and this Round 18 clash will be a good opportunity as they come up against a Moreton Bay side with a mixed bag of results in recent matches.
Players to watch:
Jordan Farina (Easts): The current tied leading goalscorer in the league, Farina has scored 16 goals in 13 games, including a double in his last match against Sunshine Coast FC which landed him in Team of the Week.
Jyi Oakes (Brisbane Roar Youth): Having scored in Roar Youth’s last two consecutive wins, Oakes will be looking to extend his goal-scoring run when his side faces Redlands United tonight.
Matija Simic (Lions FC): Simic impressed in his return to the starting lineup in last week’s clash against Gold Coast United, and is a player who can make an impact come tonight’s clash against Moreton Bay.
