This weekend (14th – 16th of June) is the inaugural ALDI MiniRoos Round for the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland, National Premier Leagues Women’s (NPLW) and the Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL).
In addition to these clubs, community clubs are also encouraged to get involved and take advantage of the opportunity to celebrate their MiniRoos players this weekend.
As part of ALDI MiniRoos Round, clubs hosting NPL Queensland, NPLW and FQPL games this weekend will have 32 MiniRoos player mascots walk out with the teams onto the pitch before the match.
MiniRoos mascots will also get the opportunity to play on the field at half time during the match.
The ALDI MiniRoos program is a nation-wide initiative which uses short, game-based sessions to introduce the sport of football to newcomers in an inclusive way.
The round will be the first of its kind in Australia with Football Queensland MiniRoos Development Officer Andy Allan wanting to raise awareness around the program and to show the pathway for young players in the state.
Community clubs are also encouraged to join in the fun by having their MiniRoos players walk out with their senior teams as mascots for games on the ALDI MiniRoos weekend.
“The round has been created to show the importance of and to celebrate our ALDI MiniRoos within Queensland’s football community,” Allan said.
“We look forward to seeing clubs give young players this amazing opportunity.”
Clubs celebrating ALDI MiniRoos Round are encouraged to share some of the best moments from the weekend on social media, using the hashtag #FQMiniRoosRound.
