The inaugural ALDI MiniRoos Round was held on the weekend for the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland, National Premier Leagues Women’s (NPLW) and the Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL).
As part of ALDI MiniRoos Round held between June 14 and June 16, senior teams were accompanied onto the pitch by MiniRoos player mascots who also got the opportunity to play on the field at half time.
The round, which was the first of its kind in Australia, was created to celebrate the ALDI MiniRoos players within Queensland’s football community, and to engage young players with older club members who they can look up to on their football pathway.
The ALDI MiniRoos program is a nation-wide initiative which uses short, game-based sessions to introduce the sport of football to newcomers in an inclusive way.
Community clubs were also encouraged to get involved and take advantage of the opportunity to celebrate their MiniRoos players on the weekend.
