It will be a tight encounter for the Round 17 National Premier Leagues Women’s (NPLW) Queensland Match of the Round with Logan Lightning hosting Gold Coast United.
The NPLW Match of the Round can be viewed live and on demand on the FQ Website, FQ Facebook and FQ YouTube channel.
Four points separate the two teams with Gold Coast United currently sitting in fifth spot on 28 points, while Logan are in seventh place on 24 points.
Gold Coast United have the advantage to move up the ladder. If they manage to secure a win, they could surpass Souths United who have the bye this week.
Since the halfway point of the season, the Gold Coast team have found their momentum. They haven’t lost a game since Round 12 and have secured crucial points to surpass multiple teams on the ladder.
Logan Lightning are in a similar position. They also haven’t lost a game since Round 12, but have lost their secured spot in the top half of the table due to excellent performances by other teams.
That could all change if they triumph over Gold Coast this weekend. If they win, they could disrupt United’s momentum and cause them to fall to sixth place, leaving one point between the two teams.
The last time Logan and Gold Coast met was in Round 4 this year, when Logan scraped by with a 1-0 win.

Since the halfway point of the season, Easts have found their form. In Round 15, they triumphed over powerhouse Moreton Bay and surpassed multiple teams. If they win this weekend, they could move away from the ninth and tenth spot, edging closer to a finals appearance.
Capalaba FC v Mitchelton

Momo Hayashi (Gold Coast United): The strong central defender has been a consistent player for Gold Coast United’s backline. Her dominance in defense has earned her multiple Team of the Week appearances.
Holly Van Der Zee (Western Pride FC): The Western Pride goalkeeper earned herself a Team of the Week spot last week after her standout performance against SWQ Thunder. She’ll prove to be a defensive force this weekend against Easts.
