Within reach of the top of the table, Capalaba FC will be looking to secure back-to-back wins in their Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL) Round 14 clash, while Ipswich Knights will host Souths United in the Match of the Round.
The last time the two sides met, Ipswich Knights came away with a 3-1 win in their Round 5 clash.
Knights come into the Round 14 match off the back of two losses, while Souths lost to Wolves FC last weekend after a shock 2-1 win over Capalaba FC the week before.
Ipswich Knights will need to find some consistent form if they are to remain in contention for finals football, and this weekend’s match against Souths United will be a good test for the side with only five regular season matches remaining.
Souths meanwhile would have been disappointed to halt their momentum last weekend after their upset victory over Capalaba the week prior, and will surely be hunting some more strong wins in the next few rounds of competition.
Ipswich Knights v Souths United
Sunday, 30 June, 3pm
Eric Evans Oval
Other key matches:
Holland Park Hawks v Logan Lightning
After a string of three consecutive losses, Lightning will be hoping to return to winning ways against the Hawks. Logan need a win to keep within reach of promotion, being five points away from second place but also have a game in hand.
Sunshine Coast Wanderers v Rochedale Rovers
After climbing their way back up to top spot on the ladder, the Wanderers will be looking to maintain their four game winning streak when they face the Rovers. With just give games of the regular season left, remaining at the top of the table will be Sunshine Coast’s focus as they look towards promotion to the NPL Queensland for next year.
Players to watch:
Shunjiro Shibuya (Souths United): Despite his side losing last round, Shibuya managed to net two goals to score himself a spot in the Team of the Week.
Josh Sherwood (Capalaba FC): In his 150 game milestone, Sherwood took home the match ball after scoring a hat-trick. He will be looking to get the shooting boots back on this weekend as Capalaba look to secure a win.
Chris Parsons (Ipswich Knights): The goalkeeper’s performance in his side’s close loss to top four team Mitchelton FC earned him a Round 13 Team of the Week appearance.
