Three Queensland players have been selected in the U20 Young Socceroos squad ahead of a training camp to be held in Canberra later this month.
Brisbane Roar FC’s Lachlan Hunter, Hassan Ramazani and Kai Trewin will be three of 30 players heading to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra between Sunday, 28 July and Friday, 2 August for a week of training.
Once the training camp ends, Head Coach Gary van Egmond will announce his 23-player roster for Australia’s representation at the 2019 AFF U18 Championship in Vietnam.
“The next month represents an exciting opportunity for all the players that have been selected,” van Egmond said.
“Our camp in Canberra combined with the 2019 AFF U18 Championship in Vietnam represents the start of our process to qualify for the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2021.”
The 2019 AFF U18 Championship will be held in Ho Chi Minh City from Tuesday, 6 August to Monday, 19 August.
The Young Socceroos will play Cambodia, hosts Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore in Group B of the competition.
The Semi Finals of the AFF U18 Championship will be held in Binh Duong on Saturday, 17 August, with the Final to be played in Thong Nhat on Monday, 19 August.
