After 18 rounds of football and a thrilling Finals Series, the 2019 Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL) season has drawn to a close.
Football Queensland is pleased to announce the 2019 FQPL Team of the Season (TOTS), featuring many of the standout players who entertained throughout the year.
How are players selected?
Throughout the season, Football Queensland (FQ) collected coaches’ votes to determine Team of the Week (TOTW) each round. Coaches selected three opposition players each game in the style of a 3-2-1.
At the conclusion of the 2019 regular FQPL season, all head coaches also submitted their Team of the Season selections, featuring the best 11 players of the season in their opinion.
For the following TOTS, player selection was based on a combination of appearances in both the weekly Team of the Week and coach Team of the Season submissions.

STARTING XI:
Chris Parsons (Ipswich Knights): The Knights goalkeeper had a strong season for his side, keeping three clean sheets and recording one Saves of the Month nomination to land himself in the FQPL Team of the Week four (4) times in 2019.
Taylor Walkinshaw (Sunshine Coast Wanderers): The towering Wanderers defender helped his side to the 2019 Premiership, with consistent performances throughout the year earning him four (4) Team of the Week appearances as he scored three goals for the season.
Jake Sherwood (Capalaba FC): Sherwood was a key part of Capalaba FC’s defence in a strong 2019 season which saw the side earn a top two spot and promotion to the NPL Queensland. Sherwood’s efforts saw him feature in five (5) FQPL Team of the Week teams.
Robert Irving (Wolves FC): The Wolves defender was a strong performer for his side, ending the season as Wolves’ equal leading goal scorer (6 goals) – an impressive feat for a defender – and appearing in the FQPL Team of the Week on four (4) occasions.
Nick Arden (Sunshine Coast Wanderers): The Sunshine Coast Wanderers captain led his side to the 2019 FQPL Premiership, with his reliable and no-nonsense defending earning him six (6) appearances in Team of the Week.
Jed Brown (Logan Lightning): The Logan Lightning young gun made quite the impact for his team in 2019, recording 18 goals in as many games to lead his side to a top three finish. Logan’s leading goal scorer also appeared in the Team of the Week six (6) times and finished second in the Golden Boot race.
Graham Fyfe (Rochedale Rovers): Rochedale’s leading goal scorer, Fyfe was one of his side’s most influential players in 2019. Netting 12 goals in 18 games, the attacking midfielder made an impressive seven (7) Team of the Week appearances throughout the 2019 FQPL season.
Emmanuel Peter (Ipswich Knights): Peter was one of the most consistent players for Ipswich Knights in 2019, with the midfielder scoring seven goals for his side throughout the season and appearing in the FQPL Team of the Week on five (5) occasions.
Carter Glockner (Mitchelton FC): The Mitchelton forward had a stellar season for his side, netting 17 goals in 17 matches to finish third in the 2019 Golden Boot race and land a spot in the FQPL Team of the Week on six (6) occasions.
Jeremy Stewart (Sunshine Coast Wanderers): This year’s FQPL Golden Boot winner, Stewart scored an incredible 20 goals in 18 regular season matches to lead his side to the 2019 Premiership. The Sunshine Coast Wanderers forward was a standout player in the FQPL this year, with his remarkable form earning him six (6) FQPL Team of the Week appearances.
Ryo Ono (Capalaba FC): Ono was key to his side’s attack all year as the speedy forward caused problems for opposition defence throughout the 2019 season. Making an impressive seven (7) Team of the Week appearances, Ono scored 10 goals in 18 matches for his side, and led his team to promotion with his brace in Capalaba’s vital Round 18 win over Logan Lightning.
SUBS:
GK: Kurtis Goodwin (Capalaba FC): The Capalaba goalkeeper helped his team to second spot on the ladder and promotion to the NPL Queensland in a solid season in which he recorded three clean sheets and made two (2) Team of the Week appearances.
DF: Jack Cabassi (Ipswich Knights): The Ipswich Knights captain was strong in defence for his side in the 2019 season, landing himself three (3) Team of the Week features.
MF: Linden Farr (Logan Lightning): The Logan Lightning midfielder was a regular strong performer for his team in 2019, helping Logan to a top three finish and scoring six goals in the process to make an appearance in two (2) Team of the Week sides this year.
MF: Emryn Donnelly-Fagan (Mitchelton FC): The Mitchelton midfielder was one of his side’s most consistent performers this year, featuring in the FQPL Team of the Week on four (4) occasions.
FW: Frederick Yinka-Kehinde (Holland Park Hawks): Yinka-Kehinde’s performance was one of the positives to come out of Holland Park Hawks’ year. The side’s leading goal scorer, Yinka-Kehinde scored 12 goals in 15 games to earn himself an appearance in the FQPL Team of the Week four (4) times in 2019 – a significant achievement considering his team’s ladder position at season’s end.
