Football Queensland (FQ) would like to extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of Norm Rule following his recent passing.
Norm had a distinguished footballing career, playing for Bundamba Rangers as a teenager and scoring many goals to help his side to the Premiership in 1955 and 1957.
He went on to represent Queensland before playing for Australia in 1958 against touring English team Blackpool FC.
The Ipswich football great represented Australia on 11 occasions, including on a tour of New Zealand for a number of test matches, and in a match against Scottish side Heart of Midlothian.
Norm finished his footballing career alongside brother Ray as Captain/Coach of Hollandia, an up-and-coming club at the time.
Norm will be remembered as a true gentleman and fantastic footballer who was highly respected by his peers and the Queensland football community.
Norm’s funeral will be held at the Bundamba Salvation Army Citadel this Friday, 11 October at 10am.
