The Women’s South East Queensland Futsal Premier League (SEQ FPL) Round 5 and Round 6 will be held this Saturday, 2 November at the Gold Coast Sports & Leisure Centre.
Six matches will be played across the two rounds, with all matches available to watch live and on demand on the Football Queensland (FQ) Facebook and YouTube.
Two catch up matches will also be held on Saturday, with Ipswich Futsal taking on Gold Coast Galaxy for their Round 1 match, while Arana United and Sunshine Coast Wave will clash in their Round 2 game.
ROUND 5:
SWQ Hurricanes v Arana United – 9:30am
SWQ Hurricanes are yet to record a win in the 2019 SEQ FPL and will face a tough task coming up against ladder leaders Arana United in their Round 5 clash this Saturday.
Arana meanwhile have won all three of their matches so far and will bring great confidence into this game following their strong 9-0 defeat of Ipswich Futsal last weekend.
Lions FC v Galaxy FC – 9:30am
After forfeiting their first two matches, Lions FC began their 2019 campaign with a win against SWQ Hurricanes before falling to a loss at the hands of Sunshine Coast Wave in Round 4.
Galaxy FC currently sit on equal points as their Round 5 opponents having only recorded a win so far this year against SWQ Hurricanes in Round 1. Following their last two losses, Galaxy will look to get back in the winners’ circle when they clash with Lions.
Sunshine Coast Wave v Ipswich Futsal – 10:45am
Currently sitting in equal first with Arana United, Sunshine Coast Wave have recorded three wins from three matches to begin their season with a perfect record.
Ipswich Futsal meanwhile have recorded mixed results in their opening matches and will need to find some better form if they are to challenge the Sunshine Coast side in their Round 5 clash.
ROUND 6:
Arana United v Lions FC – 12pm
Arana United will look to extend their winning streak when they take on Lions FC in Round 6 this weekend.
Having scored 12 goals and conceded only two in their last two matches, Arana will face a Lions FC side looking to find some consistent form for their 2019 season.
Sunshine Coast Wave v SWQ Hurricanes – 1:15pm
Sunshine Coast Wave and SWQ Hurricanes have already met once this year in Round 1 of the SEQ FPL, where Wave came out on top in a 9-2 win thanks to an incredible five-goal haul for Sofie Persson.
Hurricanes meanwhile will look to enter the winners’ circle but will face a tough challenge coming up against the Sunshine Coast side.
Galaxy FC v Ipswich Futsal – 1:15pm
While both sides have recorded mixed results so far in 2019, Galaxy will look to bring an end to their two-match losing streak as they take on Ipswich Futsal in the Round 6 clash.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Georgina Bridges (Arana United): A hat-trick in Arana’s Round 4 win against Galaxy FC earned Bridges a spot in the Week 2 SEQ FPL Team of the Week.
Jessica Maclean (Lions FC): The Lions FC keeper, who featured in the Week 2 Team of the Week, will need to be at her best this weekend as her side faces two tough matches against Arana United and Galaxy FC.
Taylah Brotherston (Sunshine Coast Wave): After scoring a double in Wave’s Round 3 and Round 4 wins, Brotherston earned selection in this week’s SEQ FPL Team of the Week.
