Football Queensland (FQ) has today confirmed the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland Select Team for the Brisbane Roar Legends charity match this Saturday, 18 January at Suncorp Stadium.
The Brisbane Roar Legends v NPL Queensland Select Team charity match will support Rural Aid’s drought & bushfire relief and act as a curtain raiser to the Brisbane Roar’s Hyundai A-League game against Wellington Phoenix.
FQ Chief Executive Officer Robert Cavallucci said the charity match was a demonstration of how the Queensland football community can come together in solidarity in times of need.
“We’re proud to be partnering with the Brisbane Roar to show our support for those affected by the devastating bushfires in Australia,” Cavallucci said.
“It’s important in times like these to come together as one football community to do what we can, so we’re very excited for this weekend’s charity match.
“It will be great to watch some of our young NPL Queensland stars come up against a line-up of legendary Roar players, and we’d encourage everyone to come along and show their support for this great cause.”
A number of players from NPL Queensland sides Moreton Bay United, Brisbane City, Olympic FC, Capalaba FC, Premiers Lions FC and 2019 Grand Final winners Gold Coast Knights will participate in the charity match.
Former Lions FC Head Coach Warren Moon and 2019 NPL Queensland Grand Final-winning player Matt Smith will feature alongside a number of other former Brisbane Roar players in their Legends side, while Cavallucci will also take part in the match donning Thomas Broich’s jersey.
Tickets for the Hyundai A-League fixture include entry to the BRFC Legends Charity Match.
