Football Queensland (FQ) has today outlined its support for the implementation of the Federal Government’s COVIDSafe tracing app.
The app is designed to fast track the contact-tracing process should a person test positive to COVID-19 (coronavirus) to help suppress any further spread of the virus.
“The health and wellbeing of Queensland’s football participants and all members of the wider football community remains our top priority,” FQ Chief Executive Officer Robert Cavallucci said.
“Whilst Football Queensland continues to work on guidelines for the return of football with the FFA and health authorities, FQ is supportive of measures that can be taken now to ensure we get football safely up and running as soon as possible.
“The COVIDSafe app is a significant step towards managing any future impacts and tracking any possible spread of the COVID-19 virus, irrespective of it occurring through community sport or across the broader community.
“It’s a positive step the football community can take to demonstrate how as a code, we will act responsibly after the resumption of the football season occurs at the earliest possible date.
“We are hopeful that the sooner transmission of the virus is suppressed, the sooner our game will be able to recommence, so we welcome the introduction of the Federal Government’s COVIDSafe app and encourage our football community to support the initiative.”
The Federal Government’s COVIDSafe app is now available to download via the App Store and Google Play store.
FQ has also released a tool kit for Queensland clubs who wish to share information on the COVIDSafe app with their members.
