Presentation / trophy days are not football related activities and do not fall under the COVID Safe Industry Plan for Outdoor Sports. If a club is utilising an external venue for their function e.g. A licensed Sports Club, then the venue would be responsible for ensuring that a COVID Safe Industry Plan is in place and the event would be permissible under the venue’s approval.
Football Queensland has sought further clarification from Alison Lyons (COVID-19 Safety Coordinator for Field Sports) and the Department of Sport and Recreation. For presentation nights, clubs are required to apply for an exemption and need to do an event checklist (to up to 1000 people) however do not need to supply to QLD Health.
The Industry Plan only covers activities that fall under general competition. Gala day, carnivals and presentation nights must to do the Event Checklist. There is more information available on what constitutes a COVID Safe Event or what type of event may require a COVID Safe Event plan, at this link; Industry Framework for COVID Safe Events in Queensland.
In the instance the club or Zone is hosting a fixture (Mini Roos etc.) on the same day and in collaboration with a planned trophy presentation or event, it is deemed a football related activity and is permissible.
