Feature Match:
Logan Lightning v Gold Coast United
Gold Coast United will travel up the M1 this weekend to take on Logan Lightning in a top four battle.
Hosts Logan come into the clash off the back of a bye last round, which followed their first defeat in four games in their last match, against Lions FC in Round 15 a fortnight ago.
The tough 7-1 loss would have been hard to swallow for the Logan side after they’d recorded three straights win against Souths United, Moreton Bay United and Eastern Suburbs in the weeks prior.
They’ll be keen to get back in the winners’ circle this weekend to further strengthen their finals position, and just three points behind Capalaba FC in third with two games in hand, could still work their way further up the top four with wins in coming weeks.
The three points could prove tough to secure this weekend though as they come up against a Gold Coast United side currently in second behind Lions FC, but with two games in hand.
The Gold Coast side find themselves in a unique position, having played less games than each of their fellow top four sides. The next few weeks could therefore prove vital as Gold Coast United challenge for the Premiership spot.
In their last match, United secured the three points in a 5-3 victory over Mitchelton FC thanks to a Deeanna Thompson hat-trick, their second consecutive win following a Round 15 2-1 defeat of Capalaba FC.
The two wins followed a bye and a loss at the hands of Eastern Suburbs, so the Gold Coast side should capitalise on the opportunity to get a winning run underway this weekend.
Last time the two sides met, Gold Coast United recorded a 2-1 win in Round 21 in August.

Other Key Matches:
Capalaba FC v Mitchelton FC
Capalaba FC will look to make it two from two this year against Mitchelton FC as they welcome them for a Round 10 clash this weekend.
Currently sitting in third, the hosts find themselves in a precarious spot with the potential to move up to second or drop to fourth depending on this weekend’s results.
They’ve played the most matches in 2020 of any side in the top four currently, meaning results in coming weeks could prove especially influential over Capalaba’s ladder position.
The Capalaba side have recorded two wins and two losses in their last four, with their most recent result a 4-3 win against Souths United, courtesy of a Stephanie Latham hat-trick.
That result followed losses to Gold Coast United and SWQ Thunder, so Capalaba will look to make it back to back victories with a win against Mitchelton FC this weekend.
Their Round 10 opponents Mitchelton FC have recorded similar results in recent weeks, also with two wins and two losses in their last four.
They come into this weekend’s match off the back of a 5-3 loss to Gold Coast United, after securing recent wins against SWQ Thunder in Round 15 and Eastern Suburbs in Round 13.
Last time these two sides met, Capalaba FC were too good for Mitchelton FC as they claimed the three points with a dominant 7-2 win in Round 21 back in August.

SWQ Thunder v Eastern Suburbs
SWQ Thunder and Eastern Suburbs will both come into their Round 10 match-up with wins to their name.
Hosts Thunder have recorded 2 wins and 2 losses in their last four matches, claiming the three points against QAS last round in a 4-1 win thanks to a Jascinta Perrin double, and against Capalaba FC in Round 13.
Eastern Suburbs remain in fifth on the table, five points behind Logan Lightning but still with some time to chase a finals spot if they can string together more vital wins in the coming weeks.
They’ve recorded three wins in their last four matches, including defeats of Gap FC (5-0), Souths United (5-1) and Gold Coast United (3-2).
A close encounter ensued last time the two sides met, with each having to settle for a share of the points in their Round 21 clash.
