Over 300 players from across Queensland will gather at Football Queensland (FQ) headquarters at Meakin Park this weekend for the Under 10 Skill Acquisition Phase (SAP) Boys State Carnival.
Teams from the five regional SAP centres (Far North Queensland, North Queensland, Central Queensland, Mackay and Wide Bay) will travel to take on South West and South East Queensland based teams across two days on Saturday, 24 October and Sunday, 25 October.
“After a successful Under 9 SAP Boys State Carnival held at Meakin Park earlier this month, we’re looking forward to welcoming the state’s best Under 10 players for this weekend’s event,” State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said.
“We’re very lucky here in Queensland to be able to still hold carnivals like this one thanks to the COVID Safe measures in place including temperature checks on arrival, QR code attendance tracking, social distancing requirements and regular cleaning of facilities and equipment.
“Each day will also be split into two sessions to limit the number of attendees on-site at one time.
“Players will travel from as far as Far North Queensland for the Under 10 SAP Boys State Carnival this weekend, which will be a valuable opportunity for the young footballers to test their skills against their peers from other teams and regions.
“Carnivals like this one also provide social benefits for the players in attendance as they get the chance to mix with other like-minded footballers from around Queensland.
“The Under 10 SAP Boys State Carnival will offer development opportunities for QAS and Brisbane Roar Academy players also, who will be on hand to referee matches throughout the weekend, while Talent Support Program coaches and FQ Technical staff will also be in attendance to watch the talent on show across the two days.
“I wish all participants and their families a safe and enjoyable weekend, and look forward to catching up with some of you at Meakin Park this weekend.”
