Football Queensland (FQ) has today confirmed the agenda for next week’s 2021 State Referee Conference, to be held on Saturday, 30 January and Sunday, 31 January.
The conference will feature an assessors and mentors’ workshop at Mt Maria College on the first day, before welcoming match officials from all levels of the game for the second day of presentations at the University of Queensland.
“We’re pleased to confirm the agenda for the 2021 State Referee Conference and announce a number of guest presenters who will be in attendance across the two-day event,” State Referee Manager Jacqui Hurford said.
“The first day of the conference will be for assessors (match day coaches) and any referees who wish to mentor in 2021, while the second day will welcome match officials from every level of our game.
“The 2021 State Referee Conference will feature a number of well-respected and highly regarded match officials as guest speakers and presenters, including Football Australia Referees Manager Mathew Cheeseman and A-League assessor and National Referee Committee member Nathan Magill.
“Mathew and Nathan will present a session on the Laws of the Game on the second day of the conference, while other topics explored across the two days will include mental wellbeing and effective coaching including key match decision and marking systems.
“We’re excited to welcome QUT sessional academic Scotty Russell as another guest speaker. Scotty is currently undertaking his PhD in referee decision-making practice and will present on the topic of effective communication.
“The State Referee Conference will also provide an opportunity to look ahead at the upcoming 2021 season as we bring together match officials from across Queensland.
“We’ve already seen significant interest in the conference from referees from around the state, and we encourage any match officials who are still interested in attending to register this year’s State Referee Conference.”
