Football Queensland (FQ) has today launched the Club Coach Coordinator (CCC) Guide to support the development of coaches around the state and enhance the experience for all involved in their local club.
“The Club Coach Coordinator Guide is a key part of Football Queensland’s vision to provide enjoyable, high-quality participation experiences for players and coaches, and to unite football across the state,” FQ President Ben Richardson said.
“In FQ’s 2020-2022 Strategic Plan, we identified the need to provide greater education and development opportunities for coaches, and the release of the CCC Guide is yet another demonstration of FQ delivering on its commitment to deliver greater support for community clubs.”
FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said the CCC Guide was designed to boost coaching numbers throughout Queensland by providing greater support and clarity for coaches within the club environment.
“Coaches play a tremendously important role in delivering rewarding experiences for young players and creating a positive culture at the 317 clubs across Queensland,” Cavallucci said.
“The research from Football Australia suggests poor coaching experience is one of the main reasons why players leave the game. We have so many fantastic coaches throughout the state, however with FQ driving investment into growing coaching numbers we have many who are at the beginning of their coaching journey and will benefit more from the support of a Club Coach Coordinator.
“The CCC Guide is designed to be flexible to meet the needs of individual clubs, but it is important to FQ that each club appoint a Club Coach Coordinator to distribute grassroots and community coaching resources and information to the wider community.
“Essentially, the role of the CCC is to monitor and mentor coaches within their club, which in turn will improve the engagement of young players at training sessions and on game day. Outlined in the Guide are key responsibilities and requirements, as well as tips for mapping out the season, planning sessions, exhibiting positive behaviours and measuring their success.
“FQ wants all coaches, no matter what stage they’re at in their career, to feel comfortable and confident in their role. In FQ’s Strategic Plan, we set an ambitious target to increase the number of coaches in Queensland by 2022 and the release of the CCC Guide is another positive step in that direction.”
Club Coach Coordinators must register each year with FQ to ensure assistance, support and guidance can continue to be provided.
