The FFA Cup returns this Anzac Day long weekend, with some unmissable Round 5 fixtures lined up for South East Queensland (SEQ) teams.
24 sides from across SEQ will compete in matches scheduled from Friday, 23 April to Monday, 26 April.
The action will kick off with some intense rivalry between 2020 National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland Premiers Peninsula Power and 2020 Brisbane Premier League Premiers St George Willawong FC on Friday night. After celebrating a strong 8-3 win in Round 4, St George will no doubt be up for the fight against the powerful Redcliffe team, who sit at the top of the NPL Queensland ladder.
Toowoomba’s FQPL 1 side SWQ Thunder will come head-to-head this Friday with Brisbane Premier League’s Toowong FC for a spot in Round 6. Both sides have been sharp throughout the knockout tournament, with each team winning their Round 4 fixtures 4-1.
Surfers Paradise Apollo will come into Round 5 of the FFA Cup with plenty of confidence after securing a 2-0 win over FQPL 1 side Mitchelton FC in their Round 4 match this week, and will look to do it all again this weekend as they take on NPL Queensland outfit Capalaba FC on Saturday.
The action continues on Sunday, with 2020 NPL Men’s Champions Lions FC set to battle it out with Gold Coast Premier League side Southport Warriors SC. It will be a tough match for the Southport underdogs as they come up against a Lions side currently in the top four of the NPL Men’s.
Southside Eagles meanwhile will return to the field after recording a 4-2 win against Buderim Wanderers earlier in the month. The Brisbane team are up against Gold Coast’s Palm Beach SC in an epic inter-zone clash scheduled for Sunday night.
