Six FFA Cup matches will be played across South East Queensland from this Sunday, 23 May to next Wednesday, 26 May, with 12 teams set to fight for a place in Round 7 of the competition.
Round 6 kicks off this Sunday at 5pm with a highly-anticipated derby between NPL Queensland side Sunshine Coast Wanderers and Gold Coast Premier League front-runners Surfers Paradise Apollo, with Sunshine Coast’s Ballinger Park to play host to the battle for an elusive Round 7 spot.
The next Round 6 matches will then be held on Tuesday, 25 May, with Logan Lightning welcoming fellow NPL Queensland side Lions FC in one of three Tuesday night matches. Just two points separate the sides on the league ladder, so this clash promises to be a tightly contested affair.
FQPL 1 side Holland Park Hawks will travel to take on Gold Coast Knights on Tuesday night after recording a 4-3 FFA Cup victory over The Lakes FC last round, thanks to a stunning Andoni Koulouris hat-trick.
Southside Eagles meanwhile will welcome NPL Queensland opposition to Memorial Park when they host Olympic FC on Tuesday. To secure their spot in the final round of the SEQ qualifiers, the hosts will need to push hard against their opponents who are currently sitting in the top four of the NPL Men’s.
In the first of two matches on Wednesday night, Peninsula Power will be looking to book their spot in Round 7 on home turf against Ipswich Knights. After celebrating a strong 4-1 win last round, the Ipswich side will need to bring their best if they are to challenge the NPL Queensland ladder leaders.
Bringing the round to a close with an epic inter-zone clash, Brisbane City and SWQ Thunder will come head-to-head in an all-FQPL 1 cup tie on Wednesday. The Toowoomba side come into the match off the back of consecutive 4-1 wins, and will look to do it again as they take on familiar foes in Round 6.
