A battle of two former National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland sides will headline the Football Queensland Premier League this weekend as Western Pride face Brisbane City in Round 9 of the FQPL 1.
Elsewhere in the league, Sunshine Coast FC and Ipswich Knights will both look to return to winning ways after recording back-to-back losses, while a mid-table clash will see Southside Eagles take on Souths United, with the former able to move up to 5th with a win.
In the FQPL 2, second will take on fourth as Grange Thistle welcome North Star for a Round 8 meeting and undefeated Caboolture FC will come up against Samford Rangers.
Magic United travel to play Virginia United following two consecutive draws, and Taringa Rovers will look to get back in the winners’ circle against Coomera Colts.

Feature Matches:
Western Pride v Brisbane City
Two familiar foes will meet in Round 9 of the FQPL 1 this Friday as Western Pride welcome Brisbane City.
The undefeated City sit atop the table with a game in hand and can extend their perfect record if they’re able to maintain their fine form, but could slip to second with a loss tomorrow if Rochedale Rovers secure three points against Holland Park Hawks this Saturday.
Their opponents Western Pride remain in fourth having played six matches this season, but will need a win against the ladder leaders to sure up their top four spot with Ipswich Knights and Souths United hot on their tails just three points behind.
Last week’s 2-1 win over Knights followed two consecutive losses for Pride, who will look to this week’s Team of the Week members Ryan Stieler and Attilio Assante to step up once again if they are to challenge their tough opposition this round in the quest for a second straight win.

Grange Thistle v North Star
A top four clash between Grange Thistle and North Star in Round 8 of the FQPL 2 tomorrow night could see a shake-up to the table if the visitors can extend their winning run to three matches.
After defeating Coomera Colts and Samford Rangers in the last two weeks, North Star can jump into second spot and overtake this weekend’s opponents by securing the three points.
It could be a tough task though, with Grange Thistle having not lost a match since their Round 2 encounter with Caboolture FC back in March.
The hosts will come into the weekend off the back of a close mid-week 3-2 win over Virginia United, and can reinforce their place in second if they are to defeat North Star on Friday night.
Last time the two sides met in Round 1 this year, Grange came away with a 1-0 win.
