Football Queensland’s National Volunteer Week celebrations have come to a close following a week dedicated to recognising the hard work and commitment of volunteers across the state.
Throughout the week, FQ profiled a number of volunteers who dedicate their time to give back to the game, including Leichhardt FC’s John Bomben, Frenchville FC’s Mathew Wust, Elsa Yanes from Logan Metro FC and FQ’s April Volunteer of the Month, Brigitte Decourcy from Buderim Wanderers.
Volunteers from across Queensland also gave an insight into why it’s Good2GiveBack, while clubs were encouraged to show their appreciation of their club volunteers with resources provided by FQ.
“National Volunteer Week is an important opportunity to shine a spotlight on the generous contributions of our game’s volunteers, and through Football Queensland’s newly launched Good2GiveBack campaign we hope to extend this recognition of their work throughout the entire year,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“As part of the campaign, FQ is also actively recruiting new volunteers to join our Good2GiveBack team from across the state, connecting new volunteers who register their interest with local clubs and footballing events.
“We’re committed to making it easier for new volunteers to join our game, and for existing members of the football community to give back to their local club by implementing additional support measures and resources for volunteers and clubs.
“For this reason, we urge every volunteer in Queensland to register through Play Football to ensure we can provide them with support to make their job easier and more enjoyable.”
