A team of National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland Legends will take on Brisbane Roar Legends this Saturday afternoon ahead of the Roar’s A-League fixture at Moreton Daily Stadium.
Coached by current Gold Coast United boss Grae Piddick, the NPL Legends will be a mix of men’s and women’s players from the past nine seasons of NPL Queensland.
The line-up features NPL stalwarts such as Alex Smith, Jess Dillon, Matt Byrne and Chris Maher.
Football Queensland CEO Robert Cavallucci paid tribute to Brisbane Roar for hosting the event after wet weather forced the postponement of the Legends match earlier this month.
“The ongoing cooperation between Football Queensland and Brisbane Roar shows how a Member Federation and the A-League can work together to support better outcomes for the game,” said Cavallucci.
“The Roar have been terrific this season under the guidance of former NPL Coach of the Year Warren Moon.
“It has been pleasing to see so many former NPL players such as Alex Parsons, Cyrus Dehmie, Rahmat Akbari, Dylan Wenzel-Halls, Joey Champness, Jesse Daley and Josh Brindell-South perform on the national stage.
“I encourage all football lovers to get down to Moreton Daily Stadium to support our NPL Legends and get behind the Roar as they look to secure a home Semi Final in the A-League Finals Series.”
The Legends match kicks off at 1:00pm followed by Brisbane Roar’s final game of the season at 3:05pm.
