Following today’s announcement by the Queensland Government of the lifting of lockdown restrictions across parts of Queensland from 6pm tonight, Friday 2 July, Football Queensland has issued an update for all participants and clubs.
Due to the 24-hour extension of the lockdown in Brisbane and Moreton Bay LGAs, the suspension of football activity in these areas has been extended until 11:59pm tomorrow, Saturday 3 July.
All NPL Men’s, NPL Women’s, FQPL 1 and FQPL 2 matches scheduled for this Saturday, 3 July and Sunday, 4 July have therefore been postponed.
The C Licence coaching course scheduled to be held at Meakin Park this weekend has also been postponed due to the lockdown extension in parts of South East Queensland.
The suspension of football activity will be lifted from 6pm tonight in Townsville City and in the following South East Queensland LGAs; Noosa, Ipswich, Somerset, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Logan City, Redlands, Scenic Rim and the Lockyer Valley.
In line with the easing of restrictions in parts of SEQ, clubs in the listed LGAs should follow the advice of their zone regarding participation in local competitions this weekend.
More information on the WinterFest event scheduled to begin next Wednesday, 7 July at Meakin Park will be provided tomorrow following the update from Queensland Government regarding the lockdown extension in Brisbane and Moreton Bay.
Participants who have been in the Brisbane or Moreton Bay LGAs since 6pm Tuesday 29 June 2021 and are now located outside of the affected areas should also abide by the extended lockdown measures as per Queensland Government guidelines.
As football recommences across parts of the state, clubs and participants are reminded of the requirement to follow the Queensland Government restrictions currently in place, including carrying a mask at all times.

Clubs and participants are also reminded of the other COVID Safe measures that have become the ‘new normal’ including the promotion of social distancing and hand hygiene measures and the regular cleaning of frequently touched surfaces and equipment. Any participants who are unwell should also not attend any training sessions, matches or other football activity.
