Football Queensland has issued an update for the football community following today’s Queensland Government announcement of an extension to face mask restrictions in South East Queensland and the declaration of a New South Wales border zone.
Face Mask Restrictions
The current face mask restrictions in place for South East Queensland will be extended until 6am next Friday, 30 July. Impacted LGAs include Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley and Somerset.
Participants in the impacted areas should wear a face mask at all times whilst attending any form of football activity, unless participating in strenuous exercise e.g. matches or training sessions.
Any participants who have been in SEQ since 1am on 29 June 2021 should also wear a face mask whilst attending football activity in any part of the state, unless 14 days have passed since they were last in the SEQ area.
Clubs and participants are reminded of the requirement to continue implementing and following the COVID Safe measures that have become the ‘new normal’. These include the promotion of social distancing and hand hygiene measures and the regular cleaning of frequently touched surfaces and equipment. Any participants who are unwell should also not attend any training sessions, matches or other football activity.
New South Wales Border Zone
Queensland Government has announced that a New South Wales border zone will come into effect from 1am tomorrow, Friday, 23 July when all of New South Wales will be declared a hotspot.
Please note Queensland residents and New South Wales border zone residents can cross the border if attending organised team sport that they would usually participate in.
New South Wales border zone residents and Queensland residents cannot travel South outside the border zone in New South Wales and then enter Queensland until it has been 14 days since they were South of the border zone. Anyone needing to return to Queensland within the 14 days will need to go into hotel quarantine.
Please keep up to date with any changes to the requirements of the border zone, including, any specific requirements put place regarding the need for Border Declarations.
