Gold Coast Force have unveiled a star-studded men’s line-up for the inaugural season of the F-League, including three international futsal players.
The men’s squad features Solomon Islands international James Egeta and former Futsalroos Scott Fenn and Daniel Fogarty.
Egeta is expected to play for the Solomon Islands in the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania later this year.
Force will once again be led by Iranian-born goalkeeper Reza Behbahani and Brazilian-born captain Thirone Correia, both of whom are veterans of the Queensland futsal scene.
Rhys Buick, who played professional futsal in the United Arab Emirates, rounds out a dangerous squad full of attacking flair.
Founded in 2017, the Force have quickly established a reputation for excellence, winning the Australian Futsal Club Championship and Gold Coast Team of the Year in 2019.
Club spokesperson Ashley Gibb said the men’s team, who have all played together before, is looking forward to the inaugural season of the F-League.
“It’s a pretty special thing, because it’s the first state governing body competition for futsal clubs in Queensland,” said Gibb.
“It’s the first step to a long journey for every club that’s looking to get to a national level and beyond.
“The main core of our men’s team has been there since 2017, and that’s why they’ve been successful.
“These guys are really good at their craft, but they don’t always get enough exposure. We are ready to go and passionate about trying to be the first to win this comp.”
