Gold Coast clubs have demonstrated their overwhelming support for reform, with 28 of 29 clubs voting in favour of the Future of Football 2020+ Reforms in a vote submitted to Football Gold Coast this week.
“The result of the recent Gold Coast club vote has shown that the football community is overwhelmingly supportive of the proposed changes, designed to streamline and reduce duplication to deliver a more affordable game for all participants,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“The Football Gold Coast Board has been collaborative, constructive, engaging and thorough throughout the consultation process, and have done a wonderful job of keeping their clubs informed with accurate information and engaged in such an important time for our game.
“All but one Gold Coast club voted in favour of the governance reforms outlined in the Future of Football 2020+ Recommendations Paper, which delivers a more efficient administration and streamlined governance structure whilst ensuring a strong voice for their region’s clubs through a South Coast Zone Committee.
“This vote is an overwhelming show of support from clubs which aligns with the feedback gathered throughout the extensive Future of Football 2020+ consultation process, and we’re confident that this support will pave the way for a positive and productive future for our game.
“All Gold Coast competitions and programs will continue as normal as Gold Coast staff transition to Football Queensland, allowing for continuity of service delivery for clubs and participants.
“We look forward to working closely with Football Gold Coast in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition as we implement these crucial reforms.”
