Football Queensland is excited to announce the inclusion of Walking Football at the 2021 Pan Pacific Masters Games on the Gold Coast.
Walking Football will be one of more than 40 sports at the 12th Pan Pacific Masters Games, with all matches to be held on 11-13 November at Nikiforides Family Park in Broadbeach.
FQ Walking Football Officer Alan Templeton said it was the first time that the low-impact, small-sided format of football would feature at the Games.
“The 2021 Pan Pacific Masters Games on the Gold Coast will be a perfect opportunity to showcase Walking Football,” said Templeton.
“Walking Football is played on smaller pitches with shortened game times and six players on each team. All games are non-contact and participants are required to have one foot on the ground at all times.
“Football Queensland has been a leader in developing Walking Football programs to encourage male and female participants of all ages to get involved in the game.
“We have already seen many people with no previous experience in football come along and fall in love with the sport.
“Football Queensland is very proud to partner with the largest biennial Masters Games in the world to deliver this historic tournament.
“We are encouraging Queenslanders to form teams and enter for a chance to win the first ever Walking Football tournament at the Pan Pacific Masters Games on home soil.”
The Games will feature men’s and women’s competitions as well as a mixed competition. The minimum age is 40 for women and 50 for men.
Team entries close on Friday, 8 October and individual entries to existing teams close on Wednesday, 10 November. Early bird entries close on Tuesday, 31 August. To register, click here.
