Football Queensland has today released an update on 2022 competitions and naming conventions across the state as the Future of Football 2020+ reform implementation continues.
Participants and clubs across Queensland are set to benefit from access to the new football pyramid from 2022 through the introduction of connected competitions throughout the state, which will see every single competition in Queensland follow a simple and consistent naming convention.
“2022 will see the introduction of standardised competition naming conventions in each region, providing a more seamless and simpler understanding of football and competitions across the state, making the game more accessible and consistent across the football pyramid,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“Football Queensland team members have been meeting with clubs and stakeholders across regional and South East Queensland to gather their feedback and input as the implementation of competition reforms continues.
“As we look ahead to 2022, Football Queensland is delighted to provide our football community with further information on the implementation of the Future of Football 2020+ competition reforms.
“This is an extremely exciting time for our game which will see connected competitions delivered from the NPL Queensland through to the FQPL 6 with the creation of three regional conferences and consistent competition naming conventions.
“One key outcome of this consultation process is the alignment of Under 12 age groups with MiniRoos field playing formats and the introduction of non-competitive matches in this age group from next year, something which Football Australia will be implementing nationally from 2023.
“This allows matches to become less results-oriented, and will instead encourage the focus at this age to be on enjoyment and progression as a team as well as improved technical outcomes for the benefit of participants.
“Players from every region in Queensland will also benefit as we work towards delivering the same high-quality playing experiences and development opportunities regardless of their location thanks to the implementation of competition reforms from 2022.
“Team sheet submission and fixturing processes have been streamlined for ease of use by clubs at all levels of the game, with simple game day procedures designed to reduce the load on volunteers and ensuring consistency of service delivery across the state.”
From 2022, all MiniRoos community teams across Queensland will use the same nomenclature incorporating Australian marsupials to further align community competitions across each region.
All Whitsunday Coast competitions will follow the below naming conventions from 2022.
