Presidents Cup awaits this Sunday, an iconic day in the Football Queensland Darling Downs calendar. 10 teams and six clubs get their chance to hold some silverware. Here is your cup preview.
Division Two (Dalby Tigers Vs Willowburn) | Kick Off 12:00pm
These two teams have only met once earlier in the season and it was a goal fest with the Tigers taking the spoils winning 5-3. Both teams have settled into their seasons and have made a habit of winning consistently. Dalby plays an expansive an attacking style of football, with their youth and speed whilst Willowburn will often look to utilise the long ball to pose a threat.
Division One (Chinchilla Vs Rockville Rovers) | Kick Off 2:00pm
Tensions will be high in this match as neither side like to lose or concede. Chinchilla have demonstrated many times of the years that they can handle big games and the pressure associated with those moments. You cannot discount Rockville, they are a spirited outfit and will certainly let Chinchilla know they are in a contest. If they score early, it could flip the script and completely change the dynamics of this game.
FQPL 3 U23 Men (Willowburn Vs West Wanderers) Kick Off 11:00am
Having played out a 0-0 draw last weekend against each other, the competition front runners face off again, this time with a trophy on the line. Both sides will feel a sense of confidence heading into this one given the way the match played out last weekend. Willowburn are yet to b beaten by WW, and they could be a mental advantage. Although it could be all the motivation WW need to not only win but take a trophy to boot.
FQPL 3 Women (Willowburn Vs Highfields Gold) Kick Off 1:00pm
These two teams have developed one of the best rivalries on the Downs, and they will pick it up again this Sunday. HF Gold are coming off a hard fought draw 3-3 with Rockville from regular fixtures, whilst Willowburn only scrapped through with a 2-1 win against HF Green. So neither side may feel they are at their best heading into this one. Both sides are healthy mix of youth and experience. And it may be the experienced players from both sides standing up in the big moments that will decide who wins this one.
FQPL 3 Men (Willowburn Vs West Wanderers) Kick Off 3:00pm
One single goal is all that separates these two teams after 3 matches this season. With the most recent result being a 1-1 draw last Saturday night. Wanderers went down to 10 men but showed great fight to remain in the contest. Whilst, Willowburn are yet to taste defeat this season, and they will not be keen to start when trophies are on the line. Looking across the two squads; Wanderers have a much younger and fresher squad, whereas Willowburn will be relying and leaning on their more mature players who have played in these matches before. Should be an absolute cracker of a match.
