Round Preview

Two rounds remain across both women’s and men’s competition in the FQPL 3 Darling Downs, and there is still a lot to play for, here is your round preview.

FQPL 3 DD Women

South Toowoomba Hawks host Willowburn on Saturday Night, both sides went without football last weekend due to rain. So both will be keen to get some momentum heading into the final series, in what could be a preview for our first elimination semi-final.

Score Prediction: 3-1 (Willowburn)

Highfields Green will be eager to bounce back from a 4-0 defeat against the Rovers as they host the other team from Captain Cook, the Rubies. Both sides have had some classic match ups over 2022 and no doubt this offers plenty for the two squads.

Score Prediction: 2-2 

Still applying the pressure on first placed Willowburn, HF Gold sent a strong statement with a commanding 7-0 win against USQFC, they take on an ever improving Wanderers team. Who have found a little bit of rhythm to their football lately, and although Gold will be heavy favourites they may not have it all their own way.

Score Prediction: 3-0 (Gold)

USQFC host Rockville Rovers at Toara Park, and although the dream of a top four finish has faded for the Phoenix, they will still endeavour to finish the season strongly and a win will do just that. Meanwhile, Rovers will want to further add momentum to their finals campaign with a win.

FQPL 3 DD Men

Willowburn will strive to keep their undefeated season alive by facing off against Wanderers at home this Saturday night. Wanderers are coming off a strong against Rockville as are Willowburn against Highfields. So both teams will be right up for it and their attacking prowess will feature heavily.

Score Prediction: 3-3

St Albans will be looking to get their season back on track before finals football commence. They’ll have an opportunity to do against Highfields. The green and gold will sees this game as another opportunity to take points off Saints as they did earlier in the season. Could be tighter than many would predict or anticipate.

Score Prediction: 2-1 (Saints)

In the match of the round, and quite possibly going a long way to finalising the top four. Rockville host the Redbacks at Captain Cook on Sunday afternoon. A win to the Rovers would see them right back into contention for fourth spot, but a loss could ruin any ambition they may have. Gatton were convincing last time out against Saints, and will want to start well and finish better to nullify the Rover’s chances as the match plays out.

Score Prediction: 2-1 (Rovers)
