Football Queensland has today confirmed the provisional composition of the Senior Men’s and Women’s leagues across the state for 2023.
Following the implementation of the Future of Football 2020+ competition reforms, the 2022 season saw the introduction of a fully connected football pyramid for the first time in Queensland.
“The rollout of connected competitions across the state this year added a new level of excitement and was an important milestone for our game,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“We’ve delivered more opportunities for aspirational players and clubs to connect and play across leagues throughout their conference as part of the newly connected football pyramid.
“The FQPL 3 Men’s play-off has been another new feature of the football pyramid this year and will be contested by the FQPL 3 Sunshine Coast and FQPL 3 Darling Downs Premiers this Saturday as they compete for the final spot in the FQPL 2 Men’s competition for 2023.
“The Provisional Declaration of Leagues is based on finishing positions from the 2022 season across the Senior Men’s and Women’s competitions, with all clubs to now undergo affiliation and the licensing application process to ensure they comply with the relevant criteria in order to be considered or awarded a position in their attributed league.
“We look forward to working closely with our clubs across the state as they undertake the affiliation and licensing process ahead of the 2023 season.”
A club’s appearance in the ‘Provisional Declaration of Leagues’ is not confirmation of inclusion in the ‘Final Declaration of Leagues’. A club’s participation in FQPL leagues for the 2023 season is contingent upon final league design, affiliation confirmation, approval and compliance of a variety of conditions (mandatory or otherwise) contained within various participation licence agreements. No participation is guaranteed to any club in any league until the final declaration of leagues is issued by FQ.
Clubs who have expressed interest in a variety of leagues are being reviewed and considered through a separate and contemporaneous process.
Clubs still interested in joining Queensland’s connected football pyramid for 2023 should get in touch with Football Queensland via licensing@footballqueensland.com.au for further information on the affiliation process.
