Football Queensland has today released the 2023 competition calendars for every region as the Future of Football 2020+ reforms continue to align competitions across the state.
Following the introduction of the connected football pyramid, a unified schedule will again be implemented across all nine regions for the 2023 season.
“After a successful 2022 in spite of the ongoing challenges of COVID-19 and weather events, 2023 is set to be an even bigger year for our game with the continuation of connected competitions, events and tournaments alongside the biggest global women’s sporting event, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“Football Queensland has worked collaboratively and in consultation with all clubs to produce the 2023 competition calendars, with clubs providing their feedback and input on the draft versions before the final calendars were produced.
“The 2023 competition calendars outline all football activity throughout the state, including Football Queensland competitions at every level of the game, state and regional FQ Academy carnivals and the return of major events including WinterFest and the FQ Community Cup.
“Another highlight of the 2023 calendar is an exciting, brand new professional leagues tournament launching in the new year, with more details on this to be revealed in the coming weeks.
“As the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ arrives on our shores, Football Queensland will also be implementing scheduling measures to ensure our participants and their families can enjoy watching our CommBank Matildas and other national teams in action right here in our backyard.
“We look forward to welcoming Queenslanders back to our game next year for another fantastic year on and off the pitch and thank all of our participants for helping us make 2022 a success.”
