Football Queensland is pleased to announce the appointment of Daegal Richardson as the new Club Development Ambassador – Whitsunday Coast (Mackay).
With multiple years of experience including as a technical director and working in roles such as coach and player development and elite athlete wellbeing management across New South Wales clubs and associations, Richardson will support the development of clubs across the Whitsunday Coast region.
“I find the opportunity to work with the clubs and players in this regional area extremely exciting, and it is something I feel I can positively contribute back into through my own experiences and knowledge of the game,” Richardson said.
“A focus for me is to support the players and coaches through their clubs and give them a platform to have a very positive football experience.
“I want to ensure that we have a safe and enjoyable but also a challenging environment for our players, where everyone can achieve great things, no matter what their football journey looks like.”
Richardson, who hails from a regional community himself, says he also intends to mentor club leaders in optimising their available resources to strengthen internal structures and support long-term sustainability.
“My overarching vision for this region is to help establish a fantastic network that we can not only develop good football players and coaches in, but also develop good competitive clubs,” he said.
“The aim is to also build up a strong club framework with pathways that all our coaches and players can enter into and hopefully do well and achieve their own successes.”
FQ General Manager – Football & State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said Richardson’s appointment will positively contribute to the growth of clubs in the Whitsunday Coast region.
“Daegal has a tremendous depth of elite player development and coaching experience, and we are excited to welcome him into the Football Queensland team and confident that his expertise will be a huge boost for clubs in the Whitsunday Coast region.”
