Football Queensland has confirmed the re-election of Amy Chapman and the election of Marty Buttigieg to the FQ Board of Directors following the Annual General Meeting held at Pullman & Mercure, King George Square in Brisbane on Saturday, 25 May.
“Football Queensland’s members have endorsed stability and continuity in re-electing Amy and demonstrated their trust and confidence in Marty by electing him to the Board.
“Both candidates have already made significant contributions to the game’s governance here in Queensland in Amy’s capacity as FQ Board Member and Marty’s previous role as Chair of the Metro North Committee,” FQ President Paula Robinson said.
“The FQ Board is confident that they will play an influential role in the growth and development of our game, providing valuable insights and business acumen from a range of professional backgrounds.”
Originally appointed to the Board in February 2020, Chapman is a former Matilda and Westfield W-League player who possesses a wealth of experience in the football landscape as a player, commentator and analyst.
As a Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) delegate, Chapman led negotiations for the W-League Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). As a commentator and analyst, Chapman has worked for Optus Sport, FIFA, Channel 10 and Channel 7 covering events and competitions including the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023TM, UEFA European Championships, Premier League, A-Leagues and Olympic Games.
Co-owner of the highly successful dessert chain San Churro, Buttigieg brings a wealth of executive knowledge in retail management, operations and logistics, sales and business development having worked with businesses such as Shell in both the Netherlands and Australia, and more recently Valley Longwall International.
Buttigieg played semi-professional football throughout the nineties and holds a number of coaching licences including a C Diploma. A passionate advocate for the women and girls game, Buttigieg spent two years as a VP of Female Football at UQFC and is currently a Female Football sub-committee member at Brisbane City FC.
Chapman and Buttigieg will serve on the FQ Board of Directors alongside Paula Robinson, Jackie Knight, Ross Thompson and Matt McKay.
