Football Queensland (FQ) is thrilled to announce the return of the Queensland Futsal Cup, set to kick off this August.
After a highly successful launch last year, the statewide knockout competition returns for its second season with the open men’s and women’s draw set to challenge our top players and ignite new rivalries across the state.
This year the competition is open to futsal and football clubs from every region in Queensland, with qualifying rounds played in each local region and a guaranteed spot in the finals for a regional Queensland team.
“Queensland has a growing demand for quality opportunities for our existing and emerging futsal and football clubs to showcase their talent, and the Queensland Futsal Cup provides this opportunity as it is open to all clubs across the entire state,” FQ Manager – Futsal Vince Sciacca said.
“This competition forms an important part of FQ’s futsal pyramid, providing additional high quality match minutes for the state’s best players against a wider variety of opponents, as the regional conferences and South East Queensland sides will integrate at certain stages of the tournament in a similar format to the Kappa Queensland Cup.
“As the competition match-ups are determined, the home team for each fixture will be able to nominate their venue of choice, creating more exciting clashes as the venue selection can vary from a basic futsal pitch such as a netball court to a full-size international standard court.
“The Final Series will be held over the weekend of 26-27 October in Brisbane, with the Semi Finals taking place on Saturday, 26 October and the Third Place Play-Off and Grand Final on Sunday, 27 October, where the victorious open men’s and women’s teams will be crowned champions of the 2024 Queensland Futsal Cup.”
The 2024 nomination fee is $150 per team, with nominations closing on Friday, 19 July.
