Football Queensland is pleased to confirm the Under 14 Boys and Girls State Team squads who will compete against overseas, interstate and regional rivals at the 2024 State of Origin Cup on the Sunshine Coast from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 September 2024 as part of the nine-day 2024 Pacific Championships carnival.
The three-day tournament will welcome Under 14 representative squads from several Member Federations across Australia, offering the promising young footballers a valuable opportunity to face new opponents and display their skills before stepping on the national stage.
“Football Queensland is thrilled to announce our Under 14 Boys and Girls state teams who will be competing in the 2024 State of Origin Cup against top players from Football New South Wales Metro and Country teams, Football Northern NSW, and several advanced club teams from New Zealand, adding even more excitement to the tournament,” FQ General Manager – Football & State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said.
“Our ‘One Queensland’ approach to selecting this year’s squads has ensured that we’ve identified and included the most talented players from across our FQ Academy regional centres, SEQ-based FQ Academy clubs and the FQ Academy QAS program.
“The State of Origin Cup represents a key milestone for our state’s young players as part of Football Queensland’s nationally recognised FQ Academy development pathway to selection for higher accolades and, eventually, Australia’s national teams.
“Building on the success of last year’s inaugural tournament hosted by Football Victoria, we’re thrilled to present this year’s tournament here in Queensland, where we aim to create the best platform for player development and talent identification.
“We are excited to see what our Queensland squads achieve this year, and we wish them all the best.”
