Football Queensland (FQ) has confirmed the continuation of the Sunshine Coast United (SCU) program for the 2025 season in line with its commitment to nurturing player development outcomes within the region and is inviting expressions of interest from both qualified coaches and players to join the program.
FQ is currently seeking expressions of interest from junior boys (under 10 to under 12) and youth boys (under 13 to under 18) interested in joining the SCU program for the 2025 season.
Additionally, qualified coaches who wish to contribute to the SCU program in 2025 and support the development of emerging football talent in the region are invited to submit an expression of interest.
“The continuation of the Sunshine Coast United program highlights Football Queensland’s commitment to advancing junior football in the Sunshine Coast region and strengthening the multi-tier FQ Academy League pathway,” FQ General Manager – Football & State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said.
“During the 2025 season, Football Queensland is committed to working with clubs that were successfully assessed by FQ to deliver an FQ Academy Tier 2 program.
“Looking forward, the extension of the SCU program for the 2025 season ensures the capacity of advanced player development opportunities in the region remains at a high level while FQ continues its club assessment processes and transitional planning to ensure any program eventually replacing SCU is sustainable in a club academy environment.
“Since its commencement in 2024, SCU has played a crucial bridging role for junior and youth players in maintaining access to the FQ Academy pathway, ensuring the retention of players participating in advanced-level training and competitions in the region.
“The continuation of the program is also a testament to the high regard in which it is held by the Sunshine Coast community and participants, whose support and positive feedback have been instrumental in ensuring the program’s ongoing success.
“The achievements and success of SCU program participants in 2024 at WinterFest24, the FQ Junior Cup and the FQ Academy Cup, not only reflect the depth of local talent but also highlight the strong support for advanced football development opportunities from the Sunshine Coast football community.
“We are excited about the upcoming 2025 season, and we look forward to delivering another year of advanced player development opportunities with the Sunshine Coast United program, with the exact structure of delivery subject to the club assessment process that concludes next month.
“We encourage interested coaches and players to submit their EOIs to join the SCU program in 2025 and take advantage of this opportunity to enhance their skills under the guidance of FQ coaches in a high-quality environment.”
