Football Queensland (FQ) has confirmed the clubs who will participate in the FQ Academy Futsal League 2 across the Metro North, Metro South and South Coast leagues.
The FQ Academy Futsal League 2 joins the FQ Academy Futsal League 1, forming the advanced tiers of junior futsal in Queensland and showcasing the state’s most promising young players across the South East of Queensland.
“The FQ Academy Futsal League 2, as Queensland’s second-highest tier of junior futsal, provides an excellent opportunity for our most talented young players to showcase their skills and compete for league titles while also best positioning themselves for talent identification, as participation in either FQ Academy Futsal League 1 or League 2 is required for state team selection eligibility,” FQ Manager – Futsal Vince Sciacca said.
“Offering high-quality competition for Under 8 to Under 16 boys and girls, FQ Academy Futsal League 2 is the perfect steppingstone for established football clubs introducing futsal offerings into their programs this season, opening new and expanding existing opportunities for both football and futsal players to participate in the game.
“We’re excited to confirm that 22 teams will participate across the three localised leagues this season, providing players with increased access to competitive match minutes and fostering their skill development as they progress toward possible state team selection.”
The new league structure will feature three competitive leagues located throughout South East Queensland. The Metro North competition will take place at Aspley High Sports Centre, the Metro South league will be based at Super Futsal Acacia Ridge, and the South Coast league will operate from Coomera Indoor Sports Centre and Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Centre.
