Football Queensland has confirmed the Provisional Declaration of Leagues for the 2025 season, encompassing FQ’s Premier and Metro Men leagues.
The Provisional Declaration of Leagues includes the proposed composition of men’s leagues across the NPL Queensland, FQPL 1 and 2, and FQPL Metro competitions, constructed in accordance with and determined by the rules of competition and sporting merit.
“The rollout of the connected competitions across our three conferences is continuing to deliver benefits for players and teams throughout Queensland’s connected football pyramid,” Football Queensland CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“The 2024 season was highlighted by strong competition across our state’s premier leagues, culminating in an exciting day of Grand Finals at Suncorp Stadium for our NPL and FQPL 1 finalists. Meanwhile, the FQPL Metro competitions continued to deliver thrilling action throughout the season.
“We have a strong and stable framework that remains unchanged, enabling connected leagues and a clear pyramid system, where clubs can rise or fall based on their performance and compliance, ensuring that while the structure remains solid, teams have the freedom to move as they succeed or face challenges.
“Looking ahead, we’re focused on the upcoming year with the release of the Provisional Declaration of Leagues, which reflects the finishing positions from the 2024 season and the movement, merger and withdrawal of some teams throughout the men’s connected football pyramid.
“As preparations for 2025 continue, clubs are currently undertaking the affiliation and licensing application process to ensure they comply with the relevant criteria in order to be considered for or awarded a position in their attributed league.”
A club’s appearance in the ‘Provisional Declaration of Leagues’ is not confirmation of inclusion in the ‘Final Declaration of Leagues’. A club’s participation in FQPL leagues for the 2025 season is contingent upon final league design, affiliation confirmation, approval and compliance with a variety of conditions (mandatory or otherwise) contained within various participation licence agreements. No league participation is guaranteed to any club in any league until the Final Declaration of Leagues is issued by FQ.
