Football Queensland has confirmed the Provisional Declaration of Leagues for FQ’s premier and Metro Women leagues in 2025.
The Provisional Declaration of Leagues includes the proposed composition of women’s leagues across the NPL Queensland, FQPL 1 and 2, and FQPL Metro competitions, constructed in accordance with and determined by the rules of competition and sporting merit.
“The 2024 season marked a significant milestone for women’s and girls’ football across Queensland, showcasing remarkable growth with record participation rates in every region and igniting greater engagement and enthusiasm for our leagues statewide,” Football Queensland CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“As a result of this increase, the competition in our premier women’s leagues has never been more exciting, with all action culminating in an exhilarating day of finals at Suncorp Stadium for our NPL and FQPL 1 finalists, while our FQPL Metro competitions continued to deliver thrilling action throughout the season.
“The rollout of connected competitions across our three conferences has delivered significant benefits for players and teams, fostering more competitive matchups and enhancing engagement throughout Queensland’s football pyramid.
“We have a strong and stable framework that remains unchanged in 2025, enabling connected leagues and a clear pyramid system, where clubs can rise or fall based on their performance and compliance, ensuring that while the structure remains solid, teams have the freedom to move as they succeed or face challenges.
“Looking ahead, we’re focused on the upcoming year with the release of the 2025 Provisional Declaration of Leagues, which reflects the finishing positions from the 2024 season and the movement, merger and withdrawal of some teams throughout the women’s connected football pyramid.
“As preparations for 2025 continue, clubs are currently undertaking the affiliation and licensing application process to ensure they comply with the relevant criteria in order to be considered for or awarded a position in their attributed league.”
A club’s appearance in the ‘Provisional Declaration of Leagues’ is not confirmation of inclusion in the ‘Final Declaration of Leagues’. A club’s participation in FQPL leagues for the 2025 season is contingent upon final league design, affiliation confirmation, approval and compliance of a variety of conditions (mandatory or otherwise) contained within various participation licence agreements. No participation is guaranteed to any club in any league until the Final Declaration of Leagues is issued by FQ.
