The FQ Academy QAS program celebrated the 2024 season with an end-of-year awards ceremony on Sunday, 17 November, bringing together players, families, and coaches.
Amali Kinsella was awarded the prestigious Sue Monteath Award as the 2024 FQ Academy QAS Player of the Year as well as the Under 18 Players’ Player Award, following a standout season that saw her break into the Brisbane Roar senior women’s training squad.
“We gathered to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and achievements of our FQ Academy QAS players throughout 2024, with a special focus on those who have made significant strides in their development, particularly those selected for their debuts in the Junior Matildas,” FQ Manager – FQ Academy QAS Isaka Cernak said.
“It was an honour to be joined by several players from Brisbane Roar FC, including current CommBank Matilda Sharn Freier, as we recognised the highest performers of the season including awarding the Sue Monteath Award, and celebrated players and graduates who have spent over five years in the program.
“The Sue Monteath Award for the 2024 FQ Academy Player of the Year, awarded to a player who excels on and off the field, was presented by Sue Monteath to Amali Kinsella, who earned the accolade after an exceptional year impressing with her commitment, attitude, and her performances in her roles as left wingback and left centreback.
“Amali recently had the opportunity to showcase her talents in a pre-season match against the Queensland women’s state team for Brisbane Roar, in which she netted a second half brace, with one goal of her goals being assisted by fellow FQ Academy QAS and youth Golden Boot winner Lily Punch.
“On behalf of Football Queensland, congratulations to all of our FQ Academy QAS award winners for 2024 and thank you to each of our players, their parents and our program coaches for another fantastic season.”
