Football Queensland (FQ) is excited to announce the NPL Women’s Magic Round, which will take place at Nudgee Recreation Reserve on Friday, 9 May and Saturday, 10 May 2025.
The NPL Women’s Magic Round will conclude Female Football Week, celebrating the talent of Queensland’s top female footballers while highlighting the growth of women’s participation in the sport and FQ’s commitment to expanding opportunities for girls and women both on and off the field.
Over two days, the Magic Round will feature five thrilling fixtures, including a standout opening clash between the reigning NPL Champions Brisbane City and the newly-promoted Gold Coast Knights, who are the current Kappa Queensland Cup and Kappa Pro Series Champions.
“We are excited to announce the NPL Women’s Magic Round fixture details for 2025, as this event is not just about showcasing our current talent in Queensland, but is also about looking to the future and building a strong, inclusive football community and offering a unique opportunity for fans, families, and aspiring players to get involved in the weekend’s events and celebrations,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“Female Football Week is a time where we look to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of women and girls in our game, and the NPL Women’s Magic Round is the perfect way to close out this week-long celebration by shining a spotlight on the exceptional talent within women’s football to inspire the next generation and bring us even closer to our 50/50 gender parity target by 2027.
“As part of the event, we’ll be offering young players ball kid roles and mascot experiences during the matches, as well as girls-only junior clinics to encourage young players to get involved in the game. FQ will also be running coaching and referee courses throughout the weekend, providing women and girls with the skills and experiences needed to succeed and have fun as players, coaches, and officials.
“We invite the Queensland football community to save the date and join us at Nudgee Recreation Reserve in May to experience the excitement of high-quality women’s football, get involved in the clinics and courses and be part of this significant celebration as we wrap up Female Football Week for 2025.”
Further details about the clinics and courses held over the weekend will be released in the lead up to the event.
